What is LASIK surgery?
LASIK surgery is not only the most commonly performed laser refractive procedure, it also has the fastest results. It can be used to treat different eye conditions including astigmatism, hyperopia, and myopia. To determine if you’re a good candidate for LASIK surgery, schedule your assessment with us today.
What is Trans PRK?
Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy (TransPRK or TransEpiLASIK) is a surface only no-touch refractive procedure. In other words, the eye is not touched by the machine. Our team recommends this procedure for those with corneas unsuitable for LASIK. To determine the condition of your eyes, schedule an eye assessment with our doctors today.
What is PRK?
Photoreactive Keratectomy, PRK for short, is a laser refractive surgery used to treat astigmatism, hyperopia, and myopia. To determine if PRK is the right treatment for you, book your eye assessment with our doctors today.
How long does the procedure take?
At Borough Lasik Center, we believe in good vision for all - that includes investing in state-of-the-art technology that allows all of our procedures to last an average of 7 minutes per eye. When scheduling your procedure, you will be allotted a 1 hour time frame in which your procedure will take place. Please be mindful that other patients may also be scheduled in the same 1 hour time slot. Once your surgery is done, we’ll let you recover in our recovery room so your eyes can properly and safely adjust. From walking into our clinic to walking out, the whole process takes approximately 2 hours. For any clarifications or questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
How long is the recovery time?
Recovery time depends on the procedure, however, on average vision recovery time is between 24-48 hours whilst full eye recovery is within 30 days. Our doctors will advise you of our recommended post-procedure care, which you can read about in our Care page.

Please do note that you may have some restrictions on what activities you can do after surgery. We recommend our patients to wait 2-3 days before resuming light exercise, and at least 4 weeks for heavy lifting and more strenuous exercise. If you have any concerns about possible restrictions as a result of your procedure, don’t hesitate to contact our team.
Am I a good candidate for LASIK surgery?
Other than age and your current eye prescription, our doctors will examine your eyes to determine which procedure is the best treatment for your specific eye condition.

The determining factors include:
Corneal thickness
Dryness of eyes
Presence of eye diseases or any recurrent or residual eye problems that can impact healing

To determine if you’re a good candidate, book your assessment with our doctors today and get one step closer to life-changing vision.

What to do Before and After Lasik Surgery

Is there anything I need to do before my LASIK eye surgery?
Prior to any LASIK operation at Borough Lasik Center we require our patients to go through our initial assessment to determine the best treatment option. Once we schedule your operation we have some friendly reminders to ensure everything goes smoothly:

- Make sure to get enough rest the night before, at least 6-8 hours
- Please remove any jewelry prior to your operation
- Avoid drinking alcohol the night before or right before your operation
- Avoid wearing and/or using perfume, perfumed lotions, and perfumed soaps
- If you wear dentures, we kindly ask you remove them prior to your operation
- Make sure to eat a light breakfast or lunch before your operation
- If you regularly wear contact lenses, avoid wearing them for at least 5-7 days prior to your operation or 3 weeks for hard lenses
- Avoid driving right after your surgery - ask a family member or friend to accompany you after your surgery. However, if on the day of your operation you don’t have someone to accompany you, please let our team at the clinic know and they will help arrange for you to get home safely.
What should I do after my LASIK eye surgery?
After your operation, our team will guide you through our post procedure care:

- To aid in your recovery, we will provide you with a care package that includes eye lubricants. We recommend using these for at least 3-6 months after your procedure, but don’t worry, our team will guide you on the appropriate steps depending on you and your procedure
- You may wash your face the morning after your procedure, however, avoid opening your eyes in pools or the ocean for at least 30 days after your procedure
- You may use your mobile phones, tablets, or computers once you feel comfortable - on average our patients will resume use of their devices within 24 hours
- Make sure to rest - you may resume light exercise 2-3 days after the procedure but avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least 4 weeks

It is normal to experience glare or halos around lights, especially at night, after LASIK but this will gradually improve over time. Some patients may even experience mild dry eye for 1-2 years after LASIK, which is also normal. If you have any concerns about your post procedure recovery, don’t hesitate to contact our team.
